by Whin Clores SEO Consultant

You should know first that majority of web pages are done using HTML. Like every language, HTML utilizes its own set of syntax and grammar and every document written with the use of HTML should follow rules accordingly. However, since HTML constantly undergoes change, it has become sort of a complicated issue. People now easily commit HTML errors and when theHTML code produced doesn’t follow the set of official rules, it becomes an invalid HTML code.

The crawler programs of search engines normally obey HTML standards. This means that they can index your site only if it follows the sanctioned HTML standard. If there’s an error in the site’s web page code, search engine spiders might halt crawling your site, losing what they’ve accumulated so far. Even if majority of search engines can let go of small errors, a “tick” or even one missing bracket can be a major problem.

A valid markup makes sure that spiders notice the web site as you intended. Missing or open tags, broken markup can produce ambiguous intentions on the part of the spiders. If your page is valid, you can be certain that any good spider is able to point out your wants and translate the page accurately.

Flash-based sites have been a craze since the past few years, and as Macromedia compiles more and more great features into Flash, we can only predict there will be more and more flash sites around the Internet. However, Flash based sites have been disputed to be bloated and unnecessary. Where exactly do we draw the line? Here’s a simple breakdown.

The good:

Interactivity

Flash’s Actionscript opens up a vast field of possibilities. Programmers and designers have used Flash to create interactve features ranging from very lively feedback forms to attractive Flash-based games. This whole new level of interactivity will always leave visitors coming back for more.

A standardized site

With Flash, you do not have to worry about cross-browser compatibility. No more woes over how a certain css code displays differently in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. When you position your site elements in Flash, they will always appear as they are as long as the user has Flash Player installed.

Better expression through animation

In Flash, one can make use of its animating features to convey a message in a much more efficient and effective way. Flash is a lightweight option for animation because it is vector based (and hence smaller file sizes) as opposed to real “movie files” that are raster based and hence much larger in size.

The bad and the ugly:

The Flash player

People have to download the Flash player in advance before they can view Flash movies, so by using Flash your visitor range will decrease considerably because not everyone will be willing to download the Flash player just to view your site. You’ll also have to put in additional work in redirecting the user to the Flash download page if he or she doesn’t have the player installed.

Site optimization

If your content was presented in Flash, most search engines wouldn’t be able to index your content. Hence, you will not be able to rank well in search engines and there will be less traffic heading to your site.

Loading time

Users have to wait longer than usual to load Flash content compared to regular text and images, and some visitors might just lose their patience and click the Back button. The longer your Flash takes to load, the more you risk losing visitors.

The best way to go is to use Flash only when you absolutely need the interactivity and motion that comes with it. Otherwise, use a mixture of Flash and HTML or use pure text if your site is purely to present simple textual and graphical information.

Flash movies can be a great thing. They can help catch eyes that
are otherwise bored with static looking pages, and they can help
tell a story better than plain text. However the use of flash
must be tempered with the ability to rank in search engines.
This article describes some of the considerations and
recommendations when using flash on a website.

Disney does it. And so does Oprah. Even my favorite pizza place
does it. That is embed their primary navigation and important
content inside a flash movie. In fact in all these cases, a good
part of the sites home page is flash, rendering that section of
the page invisible to search engine crawlers.

Granted these are extreme cases of sites which use flash
extensively, but there are other cases where even a little flash
can be improperly used. There are also cases where flash is not
only appropriate, it is recommended. The question then becomes
how to best use flash without affecting search engine rankings.

Much like the early settlers of the Wild Wild West we are the
frontiersman (and women) of a new community – the World Wide Web
community (notice the WWW analogy) – which has seen its birth in
the past couple decades and has really experienced its growth
happen in the last 10 years or so.

And throughout that time there have been many ways to display a
website and its content. Some were more successful than others.
But there is one aspect of web development which has been hotly
contested between designers of websites and those who position
them. That is the use of Flash.

Flash has been around for some time now and while it is pretty
(for lack of a better word) it can seriously hinder a websites
ability to position well in the search engines. This is because
most search crawlers can not see nor effectively index flash or
its contents. Therefore anything contained within the flash,
including page content or more importantly site navigation, is
invisible to them.

Yet flash does have it’s good points as well. As I mentioned
above, it can turn an otherwise bland looking site into
something unique and refreshing. So the question becomes – where
does one balance the need for search engine indexability with
the need for impressing customers?

Well here’s a rule of thumb for you – less is better.

Less flash occupying the page is better, as well as having as
little content embedded within it as possible. Further, where
the flash appears on the page can have an impact on its ability
to deliver the intended message.

Let’s have a quick survey – how many of you, upon coming to a
site, tune out the top 1/5 of the page, and even a couple inches
on the right of the page – especially if you see flashing or
movement?

Just as I suspected, most of you. I do it too. And we do this
because these are the places we typically see banner ads,
therefore we associate that space on many sites with advertising
and tune it out.

But there are cases when sites place important messages, via
flash, in these locations. But if many people tune out these
locations, they are also tuning out that important message.
Hence the reason the flash doesn’t do so well on the page.

So there’s tip number one: Don’t place your flash where it will
be ignored – namely those spots on the page normally associated
with advertising.

My second flash tip – don’ t take up most of the screen with it.
Keep the screen real estate it occupies to less than ½ the
screen, preferably on the left side. There are many reasons for
this:

Too often, as people are orienting themselves to the page, their
eyes scan the page and are all over it for a few seconds, and
then fixate on the top left of the page. If you have a flash
movie running (and especially if its one without controls) they
have missed a few seconds of that message. And we all know what
good a message is that’s incomplete?

Another reason for minimizing flash usage: While more and more
people are adopting broadband every day, still close to half of
the US uses dial up. Which means everything takes longer to
load. And if these users are waiting for a flash movie to load,
they could navigate away from your site in frustration because
the page is taking so long to load.

Some other recommendations:

Don’t use the flash to tell the story, use it to enhance the
story. If you are trying to sell a product, leave the important
information in the HTML of the page, but use the flash to
emphasize the product by either displaying it, or pointing out
the benefits. your flash should be complementary and not too
overwhelming.

Finally, did you know you can also externalize the code required
to display the flash? This is something that can help improve
page load times which could improve spiderability.

Using a technique similar to one I described in the
externalizing JavaScript article, you can externalize the code
used to render the flash. You can use the same code used to
create a drop down box via JavaScript to externalize the flash
code (using the document.write code and embedding the HTML
needed to display the flash there).

As you can see, based on this article, is that flash isn’t all
that bad, provided its used properly. That means it shouldn’t be
too overpowering or occupy too much of the page. It should be
complementary to the message the page is intending to give, and
should be located in places that people will look at, and not in
places normally associated with advertising.

If you follow these simple rules, your flash can become an
essential selling point to your site. One which could provide
your customers the little push they need to move from browsers
to buyers

There are many ways to increase traffic to your website; Here is the trick that works for me… but first keep in mind the below three things:

1) Consistency.2) Free Yourself.3) Have a system in place.

I will explain with an example below of all the above three.

1) Video Promotion – Should not go beyond 5 mins, one per day is good.

2) Keyword Analysis – Select the keyword that you want the video to be searched on. – For example, if you put your video up on YouTube and the title is “Mocha Mojo by Shweta Subbiah”, and the viewer types in Mocha Mojo in Google.com / YouTube.com, because they are looking for the information of Mocha Mojo, your video should come up for that keyword.

3. Send your video to your friends / someone. And you can share this video in to your social media sites, so your friends can look at this video in to your social media site like facebook, orkut etc… etc…

4. Summary about the video in to your blog and post this video (embed) in to your blog. Remember your Call To Action at the end of the post. You must give your reader somewhere to go after they’ve viewed your video. Typically it will go to your landing page. Remember to use the optimized keywords in the title and sprinkle keywords liberally throughout the post.

5. Discuss about this video in to various community sites to get more traffic to the video page. This creates both backlinks and organic traffic from the sites themselves.

6. Create the article about your video and do submit the article (summarized) to all article directories across the internet. And do hyperlinked (anchor text) what word that you want optimized. It must be the keyword you are optimizing for.

7. Submit your page / site / wbelog to other Web 2.0 sites. Check out before submit, they don’t allow duplicate content. You will have to modify your article and title for the web 2.0 sites. (Tip: They only allow one outgoing link – keep this in your mind.).

This is the way that you can get 100 backlinks per video back to your blog. 50+ from video sites (with your blog URL in the description) and 50+ from article sites (with your bio and blog URL at the end of your article) If you do 5 video’s per week, you’ve to get 500 backlinks to your blog per week. Calculate the way; number of submissions x 50 weeks… and in a year you are looking at 25000 back links.

This will make you very popular with Google and will increase your Search Engine Rankings exponentially. Right, finally you have done. Now you check with your keyword that you have optimized in Google.com – guess who’s blog post / website post will come up… YOURS of course.

Hopefully now you all can understand how to get TRAFFIC from online to your Business / Website and mantra of making money. – If any one having any idea better than this please share your thoughts / comments here.

For the complete list of online business tips, visit my web blog.

The basic step of SEO starts from the keyword marketing. Through keywords a business can express its identity to the target audience. Therefore, keywords are quite important for the successful search engine marketing.

But keyword optimization depends on host of factors, and it is very much crucial to set certain parameters by which one can attain the highest place in the SERP (Search Engine Return/Result Page), and thereby one can also get the prospective customers online.

Two things are important for the Keyword strategies (Keyword selection process): nature of the business and the likely target audience. One has to narrow down the search sphere of getting the target audience; a specific keyword targeted can fetch the mass target audience to your site. As a result, it would yield a highest return, and it would increase the ROI (Return on Investment).

Keyword research is the first phase of an economical SEO service (http://www.seosydney.net.au/). Three key points are there: the kind of products and/or services your business can render, who is target audience, and what they are searching for in order to get to your business.

A proper keyword research should start with this understanding that these aims are to be achieved by the keyword research. An optimized content development requires the proper keyword research, keyword selection and the keyword placement; this in turn will enhance the rankings of the site on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Therefore, Keyword research determines which keyword phrases will describe the website’s products and/or services and are actually used in web searches. It has three crucial aspects:

1) Keyword analysis: It is the process of analyzing the volume of likely keywords that will generate the traffic.

2) Keyword selection: Out of the bulk of keywords taken, one must have the understanding of the different prospective keywords to reflect the company’s status.

3) Keyword placement: The final step is the keyword placement, which involves the proper placement of the keywords in the site content. This placement must be such appropriate that the search engine spiders will give more relevance to.

These above stated three processes are totally known as the Keyword Optimization. Now, keyword research consists of finding the right kind of keyword that has the highest search frequency (the value for the keyword), and at the same time, it has the lowest competition in the market, i.e. a few businesses has sought for that particular keyword. In way the keyword should be the search term for any specific business by the prospective clients. It is really impossible to find the perfect keyword as a tool to compete thousands of same businesses. Sometimes, it might all so happen that a popular keyword, in spite of its highest competitive nature, is targeted, for the sake of its indispensability and highest conversion rate (the power of a keyword to generate sales).

Following are some of the important factors that are taken into consideration while choosing the keywords:

1. Try to select unique key words that your competitors have not thought of. There are so many tools like Word tracker, Overture and Google Ad sense to find the targeted keywords. But please do keep in mind, while choosing a keyword try giving a unique shape to it.

2. Optimize for your most profitable key words. How many sales does the key word generate? How much profit is made for each of these sales?

3. Make sure that the key words are very significant to your site so that people who find your site through your key words will not immediately leave. Site popularity is a factor to be taken into consideration also.

4. Try to accumulate a list of key words that covers your site very well so that you aren’t leaving anyone or anything out. The nature of business must be exposed through your keywords.

5. Conversion rate checking is another point. If a keyword is able to bring 10 people to your site, and out of 10, only one sale generates, in comparison to another keyword that brings only two and that 2 persons buy your products, then the next keyword is said to be of more useful than the first one. This is called the conversion rate. Therefore, the conversion rate for the latter keyword is higher than the former one. Ultimately, your search weapon should bring prospective customers; that is what your toil for to sell the more.

6. Seeing what the competitors are targeting by going over to their source from the view option; it is not entertained that one puts a keyword targeted by a competitor in to-to to one’s site. It would then be called stealing, and frankly speaking, that is not an ethical search engine practice. A competitor’s site can be viewed from all perspectives, so long as a healthy competition exists. It would give you some idea and reference, why and how a successful competitor is on the top. Guidance is always acceptable, but the replication can never be encouraged. In Google too, such attempt is punishable, and if caught, the site may be banned for copyright threat.

7. Just do think like how a common person will search for a particular site. Then look for that kind of keywords. It is always advisable to have two to three special or unique keywords that contain the business lingo or the jargons; in that sense the keywords sought would be realistic and specific.

Once the keywords are attained, the next move is to implement them properly; following are the universal places where the keywords are usually placed:

In the title

In the domain name

In the heading

In the first sentence of first paragraph

In the filename

In text link

In Meta description

In Meta keyword

At the bottom of page

Keywords optimized this way will have a likely impact to be searched first and crawled well by search engine spider.

Every web-master should know that properly made on-page optimization kills two birds with one stone. It can not only help to improve a website’s rankings but it increases the overall content quality and readability for a website’s visitors.

But what exactly does the term ‘on-page optimization’ mean? Basically, on-page factors are related to the content and structure of a website. Examples of on-page optimization include modifying actual HTML code-titles, meta tags, meta descriptions; keyword placement and keyword density etc. Sounds tricky? Then reading this article can be of great help to you, since it covers the basic aspects of on-page optimization and describes the best Google SEO tools for that.

Title

A title is by far the most significant website’s HTML element. It’s like your website’s business card that visitors first see in search results. That’s the reason why making up an appropriate title is extremely important for Google SEO. An ideal website’s title should be eye-catching, appealing and informative. It should tell what your business is about and contain a number of keywords. But avoid keywords overstuffing! Make certain your title is readable for humans and good for search engines.

Meta Keywords and Meta Description Tags

Meta keywords used to play quite an important role in a website’s ranking. But after innumerable cases of excessive abuse search engines stopped considering them as a factor that influences website’s position. Nowadays their only function is to inform a search engine crawler where to go.

Meta descriptions have greater Google SEO value. Although they aren’t taken into account by Google to add to your site’s ranking, they can provide people with brief descriptions of what your on-line business focuses on. This text snippet may be like a summary of what your site is about, and if it’s appealing enough visitors are more likely to click the link.

Body

Optimizing your website’s body content is the core part of Google SEO. When doing that you have to keep in mind that you write for both humans and Google crawlers.

Writing content is pretty tough and time consuming work, since you must not only apply all your creativity to shape maximally convincing and naturally looking stuff, but also choose the appropriate text length, key word density and prominence. Breaking this balance will lead to lots of problems: the content may be unreadable to visitors and your site may run a risk of being banned by Google.

Here are the stages to pass through:

- Do proper research on keywords

- Choose the best keywords for your market niche

- Shape the content of your page with these keywords, taking into account such aspects as keyword density, prominence etc.

But this amount of SEO work is too hard to do manually. Luckily for you there are lots of Google SEO tools to optimize your site’s content. One of the most authoritative Google SEO tools is WebSite Auditor. It’s cutting edge SEO tool that lets you keep close eye on top 10 on-line competitors, analyze why they are ranking high in search results and work out your own strategy to come out first. It helps you optimize your content: choose the most traffic-generating keywords, their density and prominence and much more. Besides with this Google SEO software the possibility of human-related mistakes is excluded.

Headings

After making up gripping content put it in a nice frame. Such HTML tags as

–

are used to define HTML headings.

defines the largest heading and

defines the smallest one. They help you highlight the most important areas of your site. Putting your keywords inside of a header, making them Bold or Italic adds to their prominence in the eyes of search engines. Besides these tags help to break up content and make it much more palatable for people’s eyes scanning.

Images

And finally, don’t forget about images that your site is stuffed with – they also need optimizing. The point is that interpreting an image into its meaning takes a human some milliseconds. But, alas, it doesn’t work with Google crawlers. They can see only text. So what’s the way out? Write ALT text that is a brief description of the image, and put it in the image tag. Image optimization also brings some Google SEO value, if you can place your keywords in ALT text.

That’s it! Apply all these on-page optimization techniques and get closer to your goal of ranking supremacy.

When talking about SEO, image optimization is an important part of On-Page SEO. As you probably know, that can bring some points and improve your positions.

Many website owners name their images like “dsc3244.jpg” and similar. Off course, optimized images will not give you much, because it is only one of many rankings factors, but if you want your website to be perfectly optimized, you need to think about every single factor.

There are 4 image elements that have influence:

Image name:

Image name is the most important factor and your image should be SEO friendly, but also should describe what really is on that picture. As separator you should use “-”.

Example: “seo-packages.jpg”

Image alt attribute:

Image alt attribute is important for SEO purposes but do not overoptimize that. Don’t put many small images and stuff keywords in it, ‘couse you could be punished. Just try to make it to look natural and normal.

A previous example was an image named “seo-packages.jpg”. A good alt attribute for that image can be “Affordable SEO Packages” or “Professional SEO Packages”.

Use of “alt” is to explain what is on that image. Another thing is that if someone’s browser or mobile phone does not support images, they will show your alt attribute.

Image title:

Title attribute should have a descriptive text explaining what is on that image. For a given example, it should look like: “Professional On-Page and Off-Page SEO Packages”. Image title is also shown on mouse over.

Caption text around the image:

It will bring some SEO benefits if you put captions near your images. Text related to the image will show search engines that that image really fits where it is placed.

No need to mention that you should resize your images through PS or something and not via html.

m2-webs is a small serbian SEO company that offers a variety of affordable SEO packages with guarantied improvement of search engine placements.
